Women’s Champ Pairs.

Noelene Culpan and Caryl Miles are the winners of the Women’s Champ Pairs beating Raewyn Parker and Jeanette Orgias in the final game of the competition, and will now go on to represent the Club in the Champ. of Champs. as they did also last year.  We wish them the best of luck.

Flewellyn Cup.

This is to be played on Friday 10 May starting at 1 p.m.  Three games of 1 hour and dinner to follow.   Mixed Pairs.  $10 team entry and $10 p.p. for those who wish to stay for dinner.    If your husband/wife/partner who does not play bowls wishes to join us for dinner they are welcome.

This tournament is the oldest mixed tournament in the club being first played in 1969.  Steve Sumich and Molly Sutcliffe were the first team to win and have their names on the Cup.

The Cup was donated by “Flew” to promote a closer association between the men’s club and the women’s, who then had their own clubrooms where the beach volleyball now is.   In the early days the membership was such that three greens were filled, two at the men’s club and one at the women’s, then we would all congregate at the present clubrooms for a beautiful meal cooked by some of the women.    The entry sheet filled up very quickly, whether for the bowls or the meal I do not know!!  

Filling three greens would be impossible now, but it would be nice to fill one, so please get your names down.   Single entries are taken.
