Sunday saw the running of the Sorrill cup Junior fours at Browns Bay.  Open to  1-8 Juniors, each team must include two 1-5 year players.  Twenty teams made the field with at least four teams balloted out.  Mairangi Bay had four teams competing.

The weather was a mixture cool, windy and a few showers but pretty good for this time of year. The green was very fast and quite tricky for most bowlers

Our teams were.
David Payne, Gaye Horne, Michael Thomas and Colleen Rice.
Phill Chisholm, Roger Potter, Theresa Rogers and Julie Chhour.
Jim Center, Flora Macdonald, Glyn Taylor and Rosemary Nicol.
Rick Dixon, Rick George, Bob Mullen and Graeme McGregor.

The Dixon team Finished up with two wins . They lost to the eventual winner Orewa but beat the runner up Mahurangi team.

The Center team had one win and lost three. They also lost to Mahurangi and also to a strong Hobsonville team.

The Chisholm team had one win and three losses. They changed the order for the team in the last game with Roger skipping and Theresa leading and they beat the Orewa team.

The Payne Team  finished up with three wins losing the other to Wyn Grays Takapuna team.

So no four winners but six teams with three wins.

Matt Higginson’s Orewa team came out on top courtesy of two games where they won big ends.
Second was Mahurangi with Phillip Payne taking the family honor’s.
Third was Takapuna, Wyn Gray who beat the Payne team by one end.

A big thank you for all those who turned up to support, also to Russell Parkinson for taking some excellent photos.

The Latimer Cup is next on Sunday 7th August with the same four teams competing and the following week,  the 14th August, is the Stanaway Trophy at Manly. We have an amazing total of Seven teams entered, that is great effort by oy Juniors.

Meantime stay dry, warm and stay away from covid9 (which is on the rise again) and the bad cold the is affecting a number of people at present including myself(sniff, sniff, cough, achew).
