Tuesday, February 20 saw the final day of this season’s Silverfin 5’s. On a day of changeable weather from a really hot, sunny day to rain showers and back to sun, 15 teams battled it out.
Winners on the day were Ian and Trish Hardy, Grant Keats, Evan Thomas, and a revolving team of replacements for Lionel Drew with Bevan Smith and Wendy Jensen stepping in to replace an injured Lionel. The team finished with five wins and 55 ends.
In second place also with five wins, but 51 ends were Jan Harrison, Walter, and Maureen Howden, Walter Seque and Kathy Stevens. Third place went to another team with 5 wins but only 40 ends, Stuart Jamieson, Tony Trent, Irene Donaldson, Joy Watkinson, and Larry Cain. In fourth place were Jan and John Gledhill, Sheryl Wellington, Phill Chisholm and Alan Telford with 4 1/2 wins 55 ends, narrowly pipping the McClintock team who also had 4 1/2 wins, but 52 ends.
Miles Brown of Silverfin and Alexandra Brown Investor Relations Manager were on hand to present the prizes. We are very grateful to Silverfin for this sponsorship, and Miles assured us they are very happy to continue sponsoring our tournament.
Overall winners of the Silverfin 5’s tournament for 2023/24 were Ian and Trish Hardy, Lionel Drew, Grant Keats and Evan Thomas with 75 accumulated points.
Second place went to Bruce and Elaine McClintock, Bart Robertson, Kerin Roberts, with 68 points. Two teams shared 3rd place with 52 points they were Jan Harrison, Walter, and Maureen Howden, Warren Seque and until today Christeen Dalzell. Peter and Jeanette Orgias, Michael Jelley, Allan Langley were the other 3rd placed team.
Thank you to all the teams who supported this tournament and made it so successful. I will be in touch in August with the dates for next season’s tournaments and asking for confirmation of entries.
