Sixteen teams enjoyed another lovely day for three bowl triples. The green was playing beautifully, with a bit of a cross wind to keep us on our toes.

There was only one four winner, so first place to David Payne, Evan Thomas and Ian Hardy.
There were four three winners, the best of these being Jan Gledhill, Gaye Horne and Colleen Rice in second place (3 wins, 23 ends) and Lindsay Gilmore, Colin Rogan and Bruce McClintock in third place (3 wins, 22 ends).

The unlucky three winners were Chris Taylor’s team (19 ends and 40 points) and Russell Parkinson’s team (19 ends and 37 points).

The criteria for the daily prize was changed slightly to be the best any two consecutive wins. Four teams met the criteria, three of them equal with 12 ends. One team had 18 points, another 24 points, but the money went to Russell Parkinson, Bill Lowe and Graeme McGregor with 26 points. Interestingly, their best two consecutive wins were the game before lunch and the game after lunch.

Proving that you don’t need to win any games to be in the money at Mairangi, the lucky dip went to George Jones, Rosemary Nicol and Louise Ball.

At the start of the prize giving Bruce Aley thanked Dil’s Funeral Services for their sponsorship and highlighted their support for the club over a number of years.

As usual, thanks to all those who assisted with the many tasks that make these tournaments successful and enjoyable, with special thanks to Stuart McKay for organising a team at the last minute so that there was no bye.
