The final of the Men’s Championship Singles was played in superb conditions on Friday 25th February 2022 between Allan Langley and Brian Nolan.
Both players had won through to the finals in some tough, even games and it was anyones guess who would be the stronger player on finals day.
Allan established an early lead of being up 4 – 1 in the 4th end and 9 -4 after the 10th end. Brian then scored a 3 to take it back to 9 – 7 and then it was 9 all on the 12th end. It was all on once again, with Brian taking the next 3 ends to lead by 12 – 9 after 15 ends. The game swung back and forth for the next 10 ends with the score going up in ones and after 25 ends it was 17 – 16 to Allan, then 19 – 16 and then 20 to 16.
However, as we all know, it is the first to 21 shots not to 20 and Brian moved through to 18 before Allan managed to score a single on the 30th end to take the Men’s Championship Singles tittle for the 2021 – 2022 season.
Congratulations to Allan Langley and well played to Brian Nolan. It was an entertaining and nail biting final. Well played to both of you.
