Hello Members
Ho, Ho, Ho!!
Santa is on his way so I hope all you good folk are well advanced with your preparations for Christmas.
Only a few days left to tidy up those things that need to be done then you can relax.
Just a few things to convey to you to bring you up to date.
A] CLUB HOUSE FLOORING
Every two or three years we arrange for the wooden floor and vinyl areas of the clubhouse to be cleaned and polished thoroughly and it is due again. Therefore, this will happen during the first days of January while the clubhouse is not being used over the Christmas recess. It is a two-day job. While this is being done it would be appreciated if members did not go into the clubhouse.
B] FATA LETOA
As you know, Fata has recently undergone major surgery. Because he is in isolation he can’t have visitors but I understand he is making good progress. It will be some time before we see him. However, our thoughts are with him and his family and we all join in sending Fata our best wishes for a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him at the club in the not too distant future. We miss you
C] REGIONAL INTERCLUB FINALS
The men’s Divisions 1 & 2 teams battled it out on Saturday for representation in the National Finals in March 2018.At Remuera, the Division 1 team struggled against very stiff opposition and unfortunately did not fare too well.
At Papatoetoe, the Division 2 team had an exciting day. Kensington [Northland] had a bad final round and dropped off the pace.
Peter Orgias had a convincing win in his singles which helped our differential considerably.
Our Fours team were neck and neck with Royal Oak [Auckland] and went into the last end up 15-14.
Holding one shot the Royal Oak skip removed Ian Coombe’s shot bowl [which would have given us a 16-14 win] with his last bowl and left his bowl with shot and the game ended in a 15-all draw.
A real
The result of the day hinged on the last bowl of the last end of the last game of the day!!
Finally for 2017 may I extend to all members and your families a very Merry Christmas and a great New Year. I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable festive season.
Cheers,
Bruce.
