Another busy weekend for our bowlers coming up.
The Grove Orewa Men’s Centre Singles and The Grove Orewa Women’s Pairs will be held this Saturday and Sunday.
The men’s section play will be held at Helensville, Hobsonville, Manly and Takapuna with finals at Mairangi Bay on Sunday.
The women’s section play will be held at Mairangi Bay and Milford with finals at Mairangi Bay on Sunday.

In the Men’s, we have Phill Chisholm and David Payne playing at Helensville on Saturday and Wayne Glogoski and Barry Bailie both playing at Takapuna, with all games starting at 8.30am.

In the Women’s, we have Gaye Horne and Joy Watkinson, Judi Farkash and Glenda Rountree, Elaine McClintock and Kerin Roberts, Jan Gledhill and Colleen Rice, all playing at Mairangi Bay.  At Milford we have Julie Chhour and Muy Chhour, Sheryl Wellington and Theresa Rogers playing at Milford.
All games start at 8.30am.

Another great turnout by our Mairangi Bay women with six teams entered out of a total of twenty-four teams.

Oceania Challenge:
Starting this Thursday and running through to Sunday 24th, Southern Hemisphere bowls will be showcased this week with the second Oceania Challenge featuring the national teams from Cook Islands, Niue, Norfolk Island, Samoa, Tokelau and Tonga, the Australia Performance Pathway team and two from New Zealand – an Aotearoa Māori team, and a New Zealand Under-26 team.  The event carries World Bowls Series status and will feature singles, pairs, triples and fours from Thursday until Sunday, with qualifying at both Royal Oak and New Lynn clubs and with all finals at Royal Oak.

Mairangi Bay will have two officials at the Oceania Challenge.

Thursday 21st November: Singles and Fours Qualifying from 8.30 am Men at Royal Oak/Women at New Lynn.
Friday 22nd November: Pairs and Triples Qualifying From 8.30 am – 1.30 pm Men at New Lynn/Women at Royal Oak From 2.30 pm. Singles Finals Men & Women at Royal Oak.
Saturday 23rd November: Pairs and Triples Qualifying (continued) from 8.00am – 3.30 pm. Men at Royal Oak/Women at New Lynn, from 4.30 pm, Fours Finals Men & Women at Royal Oak.
Sunday 24th November: Pairs and Triples Finals from 8.00am Men & Women at Royal Oak.

World Champion of Champions
Next week, thirty-one nations from around the world will compete for a world title in the men’s and women’s singles at the 2024 World Champion of Champions at Browns Bay.

To qualify for the World Bowls Champion of Champions you must have won your club championship and clinched your country’s overall champion of champion title to compete in this event.

New Zealand’s Representatives are Aiden Takarua and Leeane Poulson.

One of the global showpieces for world bowls will run from Tuesday 26 to Saturday 30 November at Browns Bay Bowling Club.

This is a great opportunity to watch some of the world’s best bowlers.
