Hi Everyone,
I would like to welcome two new First year Junior bowlers.
A big welcome to Glyn Taylor and Stuart Mackay .
It is looking like we could have 5 Men and 4 Women for the first year singles.
Please note this event has been delayed with a possible date being in April.
Also the Men`s 1-5 Juniors has been delayed as well .
Keep checking the board in the clubhouse.
We have BOWLS3FIVE starting this week Thursday, and we have two Junior teams entered.
Good luck to those teams.
Last weekend saw the running of the Milford 5000.
This year saw the introduction of teams being able to have two 1-8 bowlers and a 1-5 bowler.
We had four teams competing.
The first day was a qualifying round with the top 16 going into the Cup and the bottom 16 playing in the Plate.
The team of Phil Chisholm , Colleen Rice and Gaye Horne had a very good day with 3 and ½ wins and qualified 3rd.
The team of Alan Daniels, Mike Wilkinson and Allan Langley had a good day with 3 wins and qualified 4th. Their loss was to last year’s winners and hot favourites Pt Chevalier going down 13-9 after being 9 all with two ends to go.
The team of David Payne, Theresa Rogers and Louise Ball also had a good day with 3 wins and qualified 8th.
The team of Tony Trent, Garth Partridge and Gayle Wilkinson had a bad start with a big loss to the Pt Chev team and did not recover being winless on the day.
The second day saw the Trent team playing in the Plate section, they registered 1 win and a draw which was not quite good enough to get into the prize money.
Playing in the Cup David Payne’s team had a tough day and did not register a win.
The Daniels team had 2 wins and a draw to finish 7th overall missing 6th and a lot of money, by 2 ends to the Orewa team which also had two wins and a draw.
The Chisholm team had an excellent day winning their first 3 games, but went down to the Orewa team in the last. They finished 5th overall and received a nice pot of cash.
The overall winners were the Pt Chev team of Aiden Takarua , Alex Reed and Colin Williams with 4 wins.
That is two in row for them and unfortunately they said they will be back next year.
This is great tournament run by the Milford Bowling Club and draws some very good bowlers from around North Harbour, Auckland, Northland and the Waikato.
I trust everyone is enjoying player in these warmer conditions, still some gusty wind around which is making conditions tricky.
We have the Women’s and Men’s Centre Pairs coming up over the next two weeks and then the Masters, and we have a number of Junior bowlers competing in these events.
Good bowling to those players and also to the BOWLS3FIVE teams.
A number of our Juniors are playing on Thursdays and also the haggle which is great to see.
Good Bowling.
