We had a field of 28 players for the Saturday Haggle which was played in excellent conditions.  The windless, sunny weather was a complete contrast to the weather forecast and the carpet was running really nicely.

Gayle Wilkinson and Ian Hardy sorted out the draw with 4 teams playing triples and 8 teams playing pairs.  This worked really well and meant all those who wanted to play got to play.

The winning triples team was the team of Ian Hardy, Gayle Wilkinson and Rick George who had 2 wins, a draw and 14 ends, while the runner up team of Barry McCrystal, John Smith and John Houton also with 2 wins and a draw, however managed 11 ends, just one end short in their three games.

The winners of the pairs was the team of Caryl Miles and Tony Trent who had a draw and two wins.  Larry Cain and Kevin Robertson were the runners up with 2 wins and 12 ends.  They pipped Ron Horne and Colleen Rice, who also had 2 wins and managed 11 ends.

Many thanks to Ian Hardy who arrived real early to set up the rinks, Gayle Wilkinson for taking the lead on doing the draw and Colleen Rice for looking after the bar.

It was another great afternoon of social and yet competitive bowls.   So good to be out there enjoying the sunshine, fresh air and sharing the fun.  Nice also to see Noelene Culpan, Phyl Humpries, Les Bolton, Ian and Sandra Coombe who all dropped in to say HI!!!

The sheet is up behind the glass sliding doors and already there are around 20 names, so don’t delay getting your name on the entry sheet or sending a txt to Gayle on 020 478 7662.  Start time for the Saturday Haggle will be 12:00 midday from now till the end of the winter season.  Entries close at 10:00am on Saturday or when the field reaches 36 players.
