In a cruel twist of fate (or perhaps by design) the two Mairangi Bay teams have been drawn in the same section and therefore played each other on in the first round on Monday 11th November.  This means that it will be difficult for both teams to qualify for the finals.

That said, the competition between the teams was at a really high standard and the GREEN team pushed the more experienced BLUE team all the way with some excellent bowls and some close results.

In the pairs the GREEN team of Rick Dixon and Beth Drummond drew level on the 10th end with the scores at 10 each, against the BLUE team of Allan Langley and Gaye Horne.

And in the triples, the GREEN team of John McConachie, Jim Centre and Rosemary Nicol went ahead 10 points to 9 on the ninth end against the BLUE team of  Garth Partridge, Bob Mullen and Louise Ball.

Although the BLUE team did go on to win, the experience gained by the members of the GREEN team who are mainly first or second year bowlers, will be invaluable in the future.

Thanks to those who made it early and helped set up the greens.  And thanks to Colleen Rice and David Pearse for their contributions to yet another smoothly run event.  Thanks also to the club members who turned up to support the junior interclub teams.

Results:

Singles: BLUE 21, GREEN 11
