All the J’s Women’s 1-5 Singles Report & Finals Pictures

The Stredwick Cup – 1-5 years Women’s singles were played 8th and 9th February, a sunny and hot weekend, with 6 entries:

Helen Bartley, Rhonda Dredge, Julie Chhour, Jodie Cottier, Jane Mackay and Annie McGrath.

Day 1

In first round Jodie beat Helen, Jane beat Rhonda, and Julie beat Annie, all with good wins, but in second round things changed!

Helen and Annie had an exciting and close game, with Helen winning with 21-19.

So did Julie and Jane, with Jane being up 20-18 before the last end, when Julie finished off with a 3, winning 21-20!

With 2 wins each, and qualifying, Julie and Jodie didn’t need to play their last game, but Helen and Jane, on the other hand, had to play for a place in the final. Again an even game to start with, until Jane took a good lead, 15-7 after 11 ends, Helen fighting back, 15-13 after 15 ends, with Jane taking the last ends, winning with 21-13!

Day 2

So with 3 qualifying a Round Robin Final was played on the Sunday. The three J’s, Jane, Jodie and Julie.

First up were Julie and Jodie and both played really well, neck and neck, score 12-12 after 15 ends. Jodie got into a lead, 15-13 after 19 ends, but Julie managed to fight back, eventually winning 21-18.
