Many of you will be aware of the proposal by Auckland Transport to create a bus lane on Ramsgate Terrace from outside our clubrooms to the roundabout on Beach Road.

We expect this to have a major impact on our parking availability, especially on tournament days.

1. They will remove 9 street car parks from outside Countdown. In all probability the people who currently use these parks will instead use our shared carpark. We are all aware of the congestion in our carparks on tournament days, this will only become worse if a bus lane goes ahead.
2. In addition the 7 street parks between the 2 driveways will become unavailable between 4.00pm onward as they will be used as the bus lane.  This means any players parking there on tournament days will need to relocate their vehicle before this deadline.

In total we are at risk losing access to 16 carparks that we use on a regular basis, at a time when there is already considerable pressure on our existing carparks.  Ultimately this may members struggling to find parking within a walkable distance and may discourage players from other clubs joining our tournament.

Auckland Transport has booked our clubrooms on Wednesday August 19th to enable the community to meet with AT representatives to discuss the proposal between 5.00 & 8.00 pm.

We would have liked as many people as possible to attend however, given the current Level 3 alert chances are this meeting will not now take place.

We will advise you of the status of this meeting when we are advised from AT.

While the Board will be submitting our own submission we have been advised that it is more effective to have multiple individual submissions than one single one.  Therefore we would ask our members to also make their own submissions to Auckland Transport before 23rd August 2020.
