At the end of Round 3 of the Women’s Junior Singles held a couple of weeks ago, there were only two of the six entrants in contention to win the Championship, Beth Drummond with 2 wins and Gaye Horne with 3 and they were due to play each other in Round 5.

If Beth won that game, that would give them 3 wins each and we would have had to go back to the unplayed Round 4 to find the winner.

However, today, on a bright but cold Saturday morning the final Round was played with Gaye being the winner 21/4. She got off to an early start and played some lovely draw bowls but Beth never gave up throughout the game . One end was so close it was a drawn end. After several measures it was impossible to tell who had the shot.

Gaye now goes on to represent the Club in the Junior Champ of Champs at Centre.
