The last day of the Winter Open Triples was played on a mostly fine day, with a chill in the breeze later on in the afternoon. The competition was close and came down to the last game of the day with two teams going in with 3 wins under their belts. Neither of these teams would win their forth game and they finished in third and forth place, run down by teams who did not win their first game of the day.
The winning team, with three and a half wins was the team of Ian Hardy, Ric Lydford and Barry McCrystal. They managed 23 ends and 54 points.
In second place were Albert Salvadore, John Gledhill and Alan Donnelly who managed 3 wins, 23 ends and 38 points. Third went to Bruce Aley, Neville O’Connor and John Lindsay with 3 wins 22 ends and 40 points. They edged out Con Cater, Kevin Sturgeon and Gerd Hutcheson, who narrowly lost their last game and finished on 3 wins, 21 ends and 42 points.
This completes the winter Thursday Open Triples. Many thanks to all those who have participated and supported the club throughout the winter. We hope you enjoyed your free drink at the end of the day, and of course the bowls, friendships and hospitality over the winter.
Our thanks to David Pearse and the band of volunteers who have helped make the series such a success.
