The 1-5 interclub was held over the weekend .
Scheduled to be played at Milford and Mairangi Bay, but after heavy rain on Thursday and Friday they were transferred to synthetic greens at Hobsonville and Mahurangi East.
The weather played its part on the weekend and all games were completed on schedule.
Our Team, the Mairangi Bay Marlins was:
Singles: Barry Baillie.
Pairs: Michael Thomas(s) Graeme McGregor.
Triples: Jane Mackay(s) Annie McGrath and Jodie Cottier.
Manager Allan Langley.
There were four sections with the top two teams in each section qualifying for the post section finals.
In their first game the Marlins played Sunnybrae.
Barry won his singles 21-11, the pairs lost 20-10 and the triples drew their game 10 all.
The second game, they played Takapuna winning 3-0. Barry 21-12, Michael and Graeme 20-8 and Jane, Annie and Jodie 16-12.
The third game was a must win game against the Hobsonville Orion’s.
Barry won his singles 21-14, a fantastic effort to win all 3 games, the pairs lost 10-15 and the triples lost on the last end 11-12, so close!
That result meant they finished in third position and did not qualify. The Orion’s went on to the quarter finals which they won but then lost their semi-final.
The winners were the Orewa Seagulls who beat another Orewa team the Ospreys.
The Seagulls now go onto the regional final, the Mercedes cup to be held at Hikurangi later in the season.
Big thank you to Allan Langley, the manager for the day, who also ended up marking all three of Barry’s singles.
