Sixteen teams entered for this event, with several of the usual entrants absent because they were playing in the post-section Metlifecare NZ Masters competition.
The DILS Funeral Services sponsored OPEN Triples was played on the grass, which proved to be a bit of a challenge due to the heavy green and some rinks having their own quirks.
At the conclusion of the leads play, a one point bonus was awarded every end, each game, for the bowl closest to the jack, as an addition to the mix this week.
Special thanks to those who spent time finding replacement players for regular team members who were unavailable, and to Rachel Long, Jane McKay and Ralph Cullen who agreed to make up a team in order to avoid a bye.
First, with 4 wins (the only four winner) was Russell Parkinson, John Smith and Louise Ball.
Second, with three and a half wins was Larry Cain, Brian Rogers and Stuart Jamieson.
There were four three winners, the best of them in third place, with 24 ends, was Arthur Beale, Kevin Cameron and Flora MacDonald.
Daily prize winner, with the best two consecutive wins and 14 ends, which happened to be in the morning, was Gerry Strydom, Barry Baillie and Graeme Storey.
Lucky dip, quite fittingly, went to Rachel, Ralph and Jane.
Thanks to all those who helped with the tasks that need to be done to make the day successful, and especially to the team of John Gledhill, Hanaan Shahwan and Glynn Taylor, who were unlucky enough to have their team number drawn out to be on kitchen duty.
