The Prestigious Auckland Women’s Premier Singles and the Bowls North Harbour Ivan Kostanich Memorial Men’s Singles were both held over last weekend.

Mairangi Bay had four women entered in the women’s premiere singles event.

Elaine McClintock, played at the Remuera Club, she had three strong wins out of three games and finished second in her section on differential, to qualify for post section finals.

Colleen Rice also played at Remuera, she won her first game, had a close second game against Jamie Chen but struggled in her last game to Hannah Dawson who finished on top of the section.

Judi Farkash, played at New Lynn, she had two good wins to start but lost her final game to Agnes Motu from Auckland Bowling Club, who won all her games to top the section.

Julie Chhour played at Otahuhu Railway Bowling Club. She lost to Karen Hema from Te Puke in a really close game, 20-19.

In the round of 16, Elaine had a big win 21-6.

In the quarter final she lost to Kimberley Hemingway from Auckland Bowling Club, 17-21.

Kimberley won her semi but lost the final to Jessie Macaw from Tairua Bowling Club 17-21.

Bowls North Harbour OPEN Ivan Kostanich Memorial Singles.

We had three men entered.

Wayne Glogoski played at Manly Bowling Club, he started well winning his first game but lost his next two including a loss to the eventual winner of the tournament.

Phill Chisolm played at Belmont Park. He won all three games including one against Chad Nathan from Birkenhead to finish on top of his section.

David Payne played at Helensville. He had three strong wins to finish on top of his section.

Finals Round 1: Phill had a good win against Lindsay Gilmour from Riverhead. David, also a good win against Kylie Clark from Helensville.

Finals Round 2: Phill continued his good form with a win over another Nathan, this time Peter. Unfortunately David lost to Matthew Higginson from Manly in a tiebreaker.

Quarter finals: Phill played Adam Blucher from Te Atatu but went down, losing both sets.

The eventual winner was Brian Wilson from Birkenhead beating Adam Haywood from Auckland Bowling Club.

Well done to Elaine, Phill and David for making the finals in what are two very strong and competitive tournaments.
