The weather forecast on Saturday for the first round of Bowls North Harbour Pennants was not looking good, unfortunately, the forecasts were right.
Light rain occurred during the opening round but horrible conditions of gusty winds, heavy storms and cold temperatures prevailed for the second round.
Division 2 games were shortened to ten ends but Division 1 played out their 18 ends.
With only 2 of the three scheduled rounds played on Saturday 14th August, at all venues, there are to be three rounds on 21st August: game three from the 14th becomes game one on the 21st.
Division 1 was played at Manly.
The Mairangi Bay Sharks lost to Birkenhead 8-2 in their first game, in their second game they lost to Browns Bay, again 8-2. They sit 5th out of seven teams.
Division 2.
The Mairangi Bay Stingrays played at Takapuna. They lost 6-2 to Orewa and again 6-2 to Birkenhead. They currently sit at the bottom of their section.
Division 2.
The Mairangi Bay Dolphins lost to Hobsonville 8-0 and to Orewa 6-2. They also are sitting at the bottom of their section.
So not a great day for Mairangi, we hope we get some better weather next weekend to change things around.
A big thank you to all our players that fronted up in those conditions and also to the team that travelled to Omaha.
